this car was made for young married couples that were not planning on starting a family...that was a trend in the early 80's
the exp was made for weekend get aways...with a lot of room in the rear for camping gear etc...young married couples was the thing back then and they wanted a sporty car. the exp was the car but it was underpowered to start with..then in 84 ford added a turbo charged version that bumped it up to 120 hp...but it was to little to late. ford quit making them in 85 but started them back up in 86 with an escort looking front end on them.for more info on the exp check out
